Summer Arts Apprenticeship Co-Leader at Street Level Youth MediaChicago, IL
Street-level youth media emerged in the early 1990s in Chicago, founded by Inigo Manglano-Ovalle and others as a grassroots response to the lack of media representation and access in marginalized communities. Originally based in the West Town neighborhood, the project empowered local youth to tell their own stories through video, radio, and digital media, laying the foundation for what would become a national model for youth-led media arts and activism. The 2008 summer session was produced in partnership with SAIC and AfterSchool Matters.
